I was talking to ADK Logger about locating several animals for sale during a search for a good animal.
It occurred to me that we could have a list of publications, or other sources where people look to find animals advertised for sale.
In Vermont I look in The Green Mountain Trading Post a bi-weekly classified ad paper.
Vermont Ag-review Vt agency of ag bi-weekly newsletter.
Green Mountain Draft Horse Association quarterly newsletter.
And in New Hampshire The Market Bulletin.
I don’t have time right now to get links, but I think these all have websites.

Want ad Digest http://www.wantaddigest.com/view/wadhome.asp
Country Folks http://www.leepub.com/classified%20files/samplewebpage/
Country Folks is also a great place to shop for farms and land if you are looking for a some ground.

Definately let me know if you have any other ideas that will help in my search.

All kinds of animals & equipment for sale all must be ag related. Go to http://www.agriculture.nh.gov to sign up.

Request a list by type (spotted, mini, mule, etc.) or by state or just get the entire country. Their website has individual (private party) listings: http://www.lovelongears.com
I once saw a pair of matched zorses being sold there >>> kinda looked like striped Fjords. 😎February 23, 2009 at 1:44 am #49855becorsonParticipantIn the Mid Atlantic region (New York , and south through Virginia, actually) there is the weekly paper Lancaster Farming: horses, cattle, and other livestock listed for sale, also livestock auctions and much much more. (as they say.) http://lancasterfarming.com/

Beth mentioned Drafts For Sale. I view that site often. There are two more I frequently look at.

You can also contact breed registries. Most have their own web~sites. Often there are classified ads listing what is for sale.
As for publications, I get “The Draft Horse Journal.“ I believe they also have a web~site. I never bothered to check. 🙂
Enjoy the day everyone.
Hugs,
Linda 🙂 - AuthorPosts
