We had a great day today getting Magic to drive. This is the first time getting in the cart and he had only been asked to pull the cart once before for about 10 steps. Today we did turns, and ruts and he was fantastic.

In an enclosed area like you had you would be better off just driving him and he can only get better from there. My friend raises and trains them and those little buggers can do more then you might think! I almost bought a pair of young mini mules a couple years back but didn’t go cheap enough. They were a little rangy so probably would have been worked on a big truck tire until they settled down.

I was starting to think a couple of weeks ago that he would never get it, then I looked at his bridle and saw a piece of metal that was sticking out and would poke him in the face every time I put a pressure on his lines. As soon as I used a different bridle he was a different horse. Just goes to show that it is not always the animal.
The training wheels (lead walker) are there more for me then the horse. We will take them off the next time we drive.
