Hi all
New here, and to the horses. Been logging for almost sixteen years but just started with horses in April of 09. Got to say there is nothing like it!! I am addicted. Anyways my name is Travis and I live in Chester VT. I have already found a lot of info here on this site and am very excited about it. I am always open for learning and listening so any input or suggestions you may have would be super!! Thanks for your time TravisJanuary 31, 2010 at 1:19 pm #57516Gabe AyersKeymasterWelcome Travis,

You’re a little out of my sphere of influence:rolleyes:, but I am working hard these days to increase the number of HL who I can involve in a regional network for marketing products and services, and other cooperative endeavors. I had a fellow working with me last summer who has moved to the Dummerston area. He has forestry and chainsaw background, and is interested in working in the woods with horses. That may be a good connection for both of you.
Anyway, glad to have you here, Carl
p.s. I lived in Londonderry one summer (1981 I think) and really enjoyed getting to know that area. I rode my bike back and forth from Londonderry to Springfield every weekend to visit my girlfriend at the time. I still remember that long uphill grade heading out of Chester:eek:.

I attended one of your lectures at the 08 animal powered field days Carl. My wife and I enjoy the event and we went this last year as well but were short of time so couldn’t stay to long. I am always excited to see whats there and talk to people about this and that. I talked a bit to Ray Ludwig about oxen, He is a very nice guy! I have never been to a horse logging job before and would be interested to see how you set up. I pulled a little wood with my horses at the farm where I keep them but haven’t got a job with them yet. I an still trying to get all my ducks in a row, insurance, and equipment. I have been helping a friend that has a skidder to get some bills paid but I can’t wait to get going!! Thanks again you guys it is refreshing to find some good people to talk to!!!:)
