    Wanted: Single full-sized Draft Horse

I’m currently attending college in Southern Vermont and would use my spring term to ground drive and get to know the horse. We would work no less then 10 hours a week. My goal is to complete the primary tillage on my colleges student garden this spring as well as twitch a logs for exercise. I have multiple boarding options within a walking distance of school. I’m currently taking several courses (“How animals learn and remember”, “Animal social behavior”, and “how animals work”) in which I will incorporate my work with the horse. Science is a powerful tool in understanding how to train any animal.

My parents run a medium sized organic vegetable farm in Maine so there will never be an absence of work for the horse upon leaving school. I’m hoping to cultivate our 15 acres of potatoes and corn as well as rake hay this summer. Over the past 2 years I’ve been working draft horses off and on and I’m looking to continue my education with an experienced horse that will teach me the ropes. I’ve been acquiring a list of mentors/teachers and will be surrounded by talented Maine and VT teamsters. We would provide a wonderful home and endless work. I hate to see work horses as pasture ornaments. I will pay a reasonable price for the right horse if for some reason you wouldn’t want to trade and milk a cow twice a day (even if she is fantastic).

I would love to talk over possibilities. I’ve got big dreams for incorporating horsepower into my families operation and there is an incredible amount of potential for success given my unique circumstances, I just need the right horse. Please shoot me an email with leads or people to talk to. I’m a willing learner inspired by the energy and personality found in these beautiful creatures. I know how to work hard, and would invest the time in a horse that needs to be “warmed up.”

    Selling: Family Cow
I’ve got a Brown Swiss family cow for sale
Frieda is beautiful and leads extremely well. She has a couple small teats in the back but I’ve been milking her by hand since December and she has transitioned well. She stands like a dream during milking and has never kicked or even raised her foot. She has one quarter that has been testing high on the CMT paddle due to udder edema from when she calved. I’ve a soft spot in my heart for this cow, but my Jersey is producing more then enough milk for my family and friends. Frieda is bred back AI to a Guernsey Bull and is due to calve this spring. All in all, she is a wonderful cow which deserves a great home. I dried her off upon leaving for school.
I am willing to sell her for $1250 to the right home.
