    Hello friends,

Just discovered this amazing board and it’s offerings. I look forward to reading more.

I am a new teamster, 28 years old, farming for over 5 years now on small-scale diverse family farms. I have been training with draft horses and I am in search of my own team to bring back to my farm in the Puget Sound of Washington. I am interested in a team of drafts, preferably well-broke, older and experienced in all farm equipment–ground prep, manure spreader, forecart, haying, etc. I know what I am looking for can be hard to come by, but I’m aiming high.

If you have an older team that you’ve replaced with younger horses or know of someone looking to pass on their older team, please get in touch. I am a green teamster looking for a solid team to help teach me the ropes as I begin draft horse farming on my own. Mares or geldings okay. Thanks for reading, and see you in the fields.

    Chandler,
First off, welcome! I don’t know of any teams offhand, but there always seems to be a few that show up. As long as you’re not in a hurry, you’ll do fine. You might consider attending the Small Farmers Journal Auction, in Madras, OR in April. The exposure to all the people and equipment there is well worth the trip, and you just never know..one thing can lead to another!
    John
