The wind screeched up here on Appleton Ridge. Blew my plastic storage shed with its attached 10′ 6×6’s over into the horse paddock. Thought I had a small sacrificial paddock but now with 3 plus inches of rain the whole place looks like a swamp. Seems to me the last three years we have had to shut down operations in the fall for a second mud season. Sure hope it doesn’t snow until we get some frost into the ground. Could be fun up in Unity next week.

JohnNovember 10, 2010 at 12:24 pm #57497mitchmaineParticipantjust wind today. thought i’d hunt the woods this morning. holy cow. looks like mother nature has taken over the job of felling around here. she’s been at it a few years now. knocks down more wood than i can clean up. nice to have the help, and i know she’s experienced, but she can’t line up a hitch to save her soul. looks like my winter work has started.

I see too many dead branches standing straight up buried about 6 inches in the ground. That’s going to hurt.

got our first snow yesterday, around a cm with -7 C at night and -2 C daytime. Longrange we have rain and +8 C tuesday, so that first snow will probably all melt away. Rest of the week in the minus at night and low plus during the day.

Here’s what we have…and have to look forward to as well. Guess that summer’s almost over.
