I really like that four door international . I wonder how hard it would be to build a small barn and living quarters on the back that could be taken down and used on job site at times , then you could haul some wood with the truck.
I also could see my self with that other international or that type of rig. Taylor JohnsonDecember 18, 2010 at 6:57 pm #63934PhilGParticipantwe usualy have to take two trucks, the dodge for dependability to pull the gooseneck, the F350 to get into ugly spots we shouldent be going to anyway with water and sawmills – horses don’t seem to have a problem getting anywere- maybe I could pull the woodmizer with them? anyone have any ideas on how that could be done? ( about 6000lbs with trailer brakes that could posible be hooked up to battery? ) . This is a job we skid and cut Ponderosa Pine for a cabin not 1/4 mile from were its was build.
Bob, I really like your set up -that might work on my flatbed, can you post a closer up photo of the inside and ramp setup ?December 21, 2010 at 4:19 pm #63932blue80ParticipantIf I had to start over again with no trailers, I’d seriously consider the rollof trailer as listed at http://wyoming.craigslist.org/cto/2119765716.html
as an option. Could have a horse hauler bed, camper/living quarters bed, flatbed, dump bed etc. etc.Nice big winch up front to haul and load things.

But I am fixing up an old 74 IH One ton 4×4 flat bed to replace my diesel. Do you guys have any ideas on what i could modify on the flatbed to make it more veristile? Its just a standard flatbed there isnt no boxes or even a goose neck hitch(although that is going to change). I am planning on putting onboard air on it, but I dont what else. So any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

One thing that I have been looking into is mounting one of those hydraulic engine lifts that are made to mount on truck beds. I am using a 2 horse trailer, so I have to put my arch or cart in the back of my truck. Illegal to haul the arch behind the trailer in Virginia unless you want to buy the permits. The engine lift would make it nice to load and unload.

I love my underbed tool boxes, as long as they’re sealed good. This is the first flatbed we’ve owned, and I can’t believe we waited this long!! It’s the handiest thing we’ve ever had, and not having to worry about a pickup box when we have to crank the trailer around in less than optimal conditions is wonderful!
The only thing I’d do to that rig of yours is drop a 6bta Cummins in it, but it sounds like you don’t like diesels. The one in our Dodge is getting better than 22mpg when we don’t have our trailer on, and about 15+ with a trailer load of horses… I haven’t been able to find a gasser that will do that and keep up to me.
JohnJanuary 18, 2012 at 11:08 pm #63938ChrisBParticipantThat is a good idea Dennis. And John, thanks for the compliments. Idk my buddy has a cummins but I ended up with a 7.3 powerstroke.I just dont like the bigger repair cost!! And if I where to put a diesel in it, I would have to re-gear it, it has 4.88s in the axels lol. She will pull a house down, but gas milage..you just dont look at the gauge lol.
Thanks,
