I had a phone call from Geoff Pritchard (Near Horse) today. We had a wonderful and comfortable conversation.I have gotten to know him through this site, but due to a few factors and a lot of effort on his part, he visited here this fall and attended the NEAPFD, and now I consider him among my close friends.

You have all become my close friends in certain ways. I am awed when I think of how many of you I have met just during the last year. Those experiences have really made my life richer.

It is a little hard for me to believe that this site has been up for 3 years. Before that, I would never have guessed I would have this virtual life. I still find it amazing that we have built this on-line community that has such important influence on our shared lives.

Thank you all for participating, supporting, and promoting our effort here. I am extremely grateful to have gotten to know you, and I look forward to getting to know more of you more.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season this year.

    Love, Carl

    With DAP, Anything is possible.

All kidding aside, this is the best forum I have found with down to earth people of like minds. Although I do not post often, I read every day. Some days 3-4-maybe even 6-8 times a day. I literaly read every word written on DAP. With that being said, I have learned a vast amount about many things. I have come to know, enjoy, laugh and cry with almost everyone who posts on a regular basis. Every year I am green with envy when you all can get together for NEAPFD, and SDAD. I could go on for hours about the things I have read and learned here, but I won’t. I just wanted to take this time to say thank you to Carl and Lisa and everyone else involved from the day to day, to the large sacrifices that they make. You make the world a better place.

    Thank you, Gordon

Carl, you and Lisa have done a great service to all us DAP adherents with your work and guidance on this site and the annual field days event. As has been said this forum is invaluable and I personally cherish the opportunity to participate and learn daily from all the great people who contribute to the body of knowledge and support that is here. Thanks you both and I wish you and your family the Merriest Christmas ever and the most fulfilling new year.

I am also very thankful for all the wonderful friends that I have made on this site. The sharing and preservation of knowledge (as well as the creation of new knowledge) that this site allows is a very important thing and I am proud to take part in it. I hope everyone has a great xmas. I keep going out in the snow without enough clothes on and I caught a cold that is putting a damper on my holiday season…

    Hi All!

I too enjoyed my conversation yesterday with Carl – often I feel like I’ve known him a long time.

I can hardly express how much I enjoy the company here on DAP.com – it has broadened my understanding of the word community (we can debate that in another thread later) and, as Carl put it, “makes my world a better place” too. (Hey, what’s that in my eye? No, it’s not a tear, must be a bug.:))

Carl and Lisa, we all are thankful for all you’ve done to initiate this endeavor and help it grow and flourish. It’s like you started “The Big Bang” that has generated a new and ever-expanding universe. 😮 Best wishes for a prosperous and fulfilling new year.

Merry Christmas to all you DAP.com users

And finally – Andy – Please don’t tell us you were out plowing snow buck naked! You’ve heard of getting your tongue stuck to a flagpole or pump handle? There can be WORSE things to get stuck to cold metal. So I hear. Keep on fabricating.

This is truly a remarkable place and you folks are truly remarkable people. I came to a full realization of that when I had a chance to meet many of you at LIF.

We all lambast the technology age to some extent; it’s ills are often the subject of many of the threads here.

That said, technology (as well as Carl & Lisa’s tireless dedication & support) is what has brought most of us together here. A very small niche community literally scattered across the world. Pre-DAP most of us would not have known each other existed, not to mention the fast friendships that have been formed here.

With that, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to my DAP family, and yes, it is a very close family. And Geoff, there are tears of joy & love in all of our eyes. 😉

    Winter well my friends,
    -Scott

Merry Christmas to all those I have met on this site. For those who have not have the opprtunity to meet the folks behind this site, you are in for a great surprise when you do. What a fantastic group! I have attended the event for the past three years. I just hope it will continue for many more years.
Support it when you can, plan to visit when you can. This is a unique group of people. Wishing everyone the best in 2011!

In 2006 and acquaintance knew that I was interested in work horses and recommended that I go to a workshop at Solar Fest. I went and watched Carl, Lisa and the kids with their animals. At the end of the workshop Lisa passed around a sign up sheet for anyone interested in receiving info if they decided to do anymore workshops. I had no idea that writing my name and address on that list would have such a huge positive impact on my life.

I cherish all the friendships that I made resulting from NEAPFD and DAP, and look forward to making many more through the DAPNet effort. Thank you all especially Carl and Lisa. I would have never guessed that I would become an Ox teamster with a pair of red heads, or have a really cool friend named Bazel.

I wish you all well and hope that no one, even Bazel, receives coal in their stocking, unless of course you asked for it 🙂

    Peace be with you,

    Erika

Awe come on ya big lugs….. and I mean it.

I knew both of these men to be intelligent outdoorsmen, but I had no idea what they looked like. When I met them both I was astonished by the fact that they both are big men…. (They’re bigger than me, and I’m no pip-squeak)

Big, powerful, honest, open, warm, friendly, and emotional. Proud to be your friend.

    Carl
