    Highway,

Wow! That is tragic news. Even a couple thousand miles away, it still just stuns me. Is there anything we can do to help? At least an address where one could send a card or something.

Also, since I know most people here by their “list ID”, which Bob are you talking about? Was this an accident while driving his horses or while transporting them?

I hope he will be alright.

How about the green energy crowd spread the message to our state highway departments and elected leaders that in all this new bridge and road rebuilding the country about to occur, courtesy of the multi-billion dollar Stimulus package, that state and local officials encourage and plan for our walking and bicycle paths to be widened to include and encourage horse riding/driving lanes? At least along some sections of our rural highways in this country? Designated intersecting horse friendly roadways in each state would be soooo nice and go a long ways to promote eco tourism, relaxing vacation kinda experiences. US citizens fly to Ireland to do this now. Why not in the US? Why not in Vermont and New Hampshire and some other rural states? If not now, when? My heart goes out to Bob. What he was doing is what many of us would like to do. What a terrible price to pay to see the nation and live more simply.

Thanks Bess. I couldn’t get the article to open earlier but now it worked. I feel terrible, terrible, terrible for him, his horses and his family. Hang in there Bob.

This is terrible! I feel so badly for him and his family! Here he was living out his “dream” and it turned into a nightmare!

He will be in my prayers!

Here’s the link to his web page so we can learn more about him.

Thanks for the links to the story and the bank.

I heard! What an awful tragedy!! Thank goodness for the local vet taking his two surviving Percherons.

It is just so distressing to hear this and there is no mention of his poodle that I could find?

His dog is fine from what I have read. He is at a local vets being treated, but seems to be ok from the trauma. Bob will get him back as soon as he can.
