He he I liked that. Cousin Jack huh? I’m betting your a Welshmen.
No, it’s the Cornish men who were known as “Cousin Jack’s” We were once, the best hard rock miners in the world, and anywhere in the world there was a shaft or a hole in the ground, you only had to shout down “Cousin Jack”, and you would get a reply, “yep”.:)

Nice Jack,
what are you making with that payload, furniture ?Hi Phil, no not furniture. It is willow, I will cut it into wands about 10ft long then I will use them as binders on a hedge I have just laid.
Now you will ask me what laying a hedge entails, it is when we take a hedge, usually thorn, and we cut through the stem and lay
the stem at an angle, this encourages regrowth from the stump whilst still providing a stock proof barrier. I will put some pictures up tomorrow.cousin jackParticipantHere’s mine
cousin jackParticipantNot sure if this will work, but you will notice teams of 6 drawing the gun limber, all nearside horses ridden. When deploying a gun, horses will be detached from the limber, and ridden away.
Sorry, that link was no good. Try this one.cousin jackParticipantSeems like it ai’nt the end of the story. I sold him. Wife went out and bought him back!
He has been gelded, currently being ridden, and seemingly enjoying it. We have had him pulling again, ok so far.cousin jackParticipantI’m applying for my green card right now, think they’ll let me in? 🙂
cousin jackParticipantWell, despite everything going well at home in the pen, and the paddock and out on the road locally, as soon as we went to the wood yesterday he bolted as I was about to hitch him to a log, no reason, no excuse, he knew what I was going to ask him to do next and he said, “no way”. I am not prepared to risk anyone’s safety anymore, so this is the end of the story, thanks for looking in, CJ

Ok, we’re back, 7 months down the line, and I’m not sure if I’m mad or not, but I am going to try again. I notice there are over 3000 views of this thread, seems like a lot of people want to know the outcome, well you will read it here, if I fail I won’t hide it!
I decided he had to come back up to speed pretty quick if we were to get anywhere, so far so good and back into the shafts after a couple of sessions in the round pen. I have a Liverpool bit in now, with a curb chain, not at it’s most severe setting, I want to keep something in reserve if need be. Anyway, will keep you posted!cousin jackParticipantGood luck with the new addition Jim.
cousin jackParticipantThats a cracking set up!

cousin jackParticipantThat was great, not being an expert on Maine dialect, does he say at the end,
“The night was filled with music, and the cares that infest the day,
shall fold their tents like the Arabs and then silently steal away”. ?I can answer my own question, yes he does, it was written by Maine born poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, those few lines are a fitting epithet to bygone era.

John,
Check with Jason R. He has one. How’s the leg healing up?
Take care of yourself.
Don’t want to derail the thread, but I think leg is healing fine, but the Doc says I will be in plaster for another 9 weeks yet 🙁 Totally p***ed off.
cousin jackParticipantI also use the “amsteel blue”, as a result of reading about it on here, as Scott and Carl say it “manna from heaven”. You can carry 150 ft in one hand, no problem.
