    Rod,
Thanks for the idea of the buck back strap, my off steer is the anchor in my team and that sounds like something I could try to get him to keep up.

    Anton,

I live in Monroe county about an hour north of you. I have a team of oxen that I use mostly for skidding logs and pulling carts but would like to branch out to try some farm implements also. Although I’m not mentor material as I know very little about horses at least you know there are some Draft animal power aficionados’ fairly close by, at the very least we could carpool to some Dapnet functions to save some gas! If your interested in logging with horses at all there are a couple of horse loggers within an hour drive of your area. I’m sure some more experienced teamsters will respond with better info, good luck and I look forward to see many more posts from your farm.

    Barb,

I have a team that is six months old and coming along nicely, they are not ready yet of course but when they are I’d be willing to use them to spread the word about oxen in the mid Atlantic region.

There is a cookstove made in the UK called the ESSE, burns both wood and coal and has an optional water reservoir that can handle one line for a radiator. It’s a little pricey but it’s on my wish list to replace the cookstove I have now.
