Thanks for the input guys. I converted a No. 7 international regular gear to a one horse mower . Got a chance to use it this weekend. My 1800 pound mare did ok on the 4 1/2 foot bar but she had to work at it, of course she is pretty soft. Thinking that I’ll cut it down to a 4 ft. bar. Only use it for clipping pastures or weed patches. All in all I’m satisfied with it but can see that I will need to tweak a few things.

The first three wheel cart I built had a small wheel on the front , I thought it was okay untill I built the second one with a 16 in wheel. Not only does it pull easier, but it rides smoother.

Looks like a good outfit. I have a three wheel cart that has a hyd 3 point hitch. Been thinking on putting a which on it. The back blade is a good idea.

I had a Haflinger gelding a few years ago that acted the same way. He to was sold as dead broke, But the owner lied( not uncommon at a sale). Worked him everyday ( he spent 8 to 12 hours a day in harness)for a couple of months before he came around to my way of thinking. Sold him to a young guy , Made it clear that not to feed grain, and to work him steady and not let him get give him any BS. He did good till the winter, when the new owner turned him out for over six months. When hooked again he reverted back to his old self. This time he got away and busted up the wagon, the new owner got scared and turned him out. Miles and wet shoulders are what he needs.

I built runners that bolt onto the hubs of a regular running gear. I found though that you can’t use a regular pole setup like you would use on a fifth wheel or regular bobsled. You need an auto steer setup , because with a regular wagon the runners are bind. Will try to send picture if you’re interested.

Do you by any chance remember the name of the product that you used. Have a horse with a bad back quarter due to a Snake bite.

    Thanks

How do you rebuild the lugs on a mower? I have a #7 mower that sure could use the lugs built up. Was thinking about using a cast iron welding rod to build them up.

    Thanks

For temorary storage I use a roll of corn cribing (wooden snow fencing), in a circle set on the ground. I have also made a elevated floor with RR ties and planks for a floor. for the sides use a couple of corral panels lined with snow fencewing, and supported be steelfence posts.

I have built and used a couple of three wheel cart with three point hitchs. For the most part they do a good job, although if the implement is to heavy it will cause the front end to be light and rasie up(counter wieghts help to remedy that problem). I have built most of the implements for the carts, the only thing that I haven’t got perfected is a round bale mover. One problem with the three wheel cart is that it takes some getting used to when trying to back up(turns real quick).

George I can relate to what you are going through( been in your position before). Trouble is that there are only so many hours in the day. I run a mixed power operation and try to keep the emphasis on useing the teams, but like you I run a off farm business as well. If I could stay at home and and not have to earn living off the farm I
