I have two IHC sharpeners similar to yours . Problem is trying to find stones for them. Any one know of a source let me know.

I have used them too. Made my own from a ball pean hammer head. Just throw in forge ,heat to cherry red , and draw out the pean end to shape wanted. Put handle in drill hole for strap and use.

I have been using bolt on runners for a few years. Took a set of bobsled runners fitted with a bracket to bolt on the wheel hubs of a regular running gear. Put a cross piece between back runners chained up to the reach. Added auto steering to the front runners (Not neededIf you use a fifth wheel wagon ). Can change from sled to wagon in less than a half hour. Works great has a wide tread that is hard to tip over.

I always use oats (cut for hay or grain) as a nurse crop for grass seed. small seed like clover, alfalfa, etc. go in the grass seed box. Lighter seed like Brome, Orchard grass, etc. is mixed with the grain. I take a Quart jar fill it with seed and weigh it up and figure pounds per acre from there. You have to figure the amount of grain per acre then mix in the desired amount of grass seed. You may have adjust the feed rate to get the right amount. I always write the settings on the inside of the lid for future reference.

A good piker will pick approx. 100 bu a day. If you are new you can figure a lot less. Last time I picked by hand I picked four rows (approx 40 rods long) in the morning and another four rows in the afternoon, and I’m not that fast.

    Good luck

How many head are you going to be grinding for. If its only a few head I’ve used a yard chipper. works good but slow.

Best way I have found to get rid of quack is to turn a few pigs in there. To pigs quack roots are like candy they can’t get enough of them. I used to plant a few acres of corn and turn the pigs in there around the middle of August. They would clean up the weeds and grasses, then start on the corn. By the first of November they were ready for market . Corn was picked, no feed to grind, no manure to spread ,ground worked up (hit with a disc and plant).

I usually set mine by the hit and miss method. Step off an acre , set the seeder on the light side, seed stepped off area and adjust the opening in or out. When I get it right were I want it I write the setting on the seed hopper with permanent marker so I know were to start next time. Seeding rate seem to vary year to year depending on foreign matter and seed weight.

I bought a grain drill at a farm sale years ago and on the inside of the lids was a record of the settings for the last 20 years. Settings varied year to year

    Good luck

Great pictures. But a word of advice I never allow my dog to be with me when i’m mowing . You could end up with a three legged dog or worse. Again great pictures.

Never made a bale unroll-er, but that’s only because I haven’t needed one. I have thought of it from time to time and have an idea of what I want. Nothing down on paper just rolling around in my head with a bunch of other ideas. Usually design as I built. Keep in touch I’m sure we can get one made.
