I think it is a great idea to have all three things listed with them somehow. The benefits of being a member, but also the fact that it is not needed to participate in events. As far as the date goes, I don’t see a need (since we don’t have one anyway) to say a date, just tell people to check back on the website for the location and time for the next event. If they are interested they will keep coming back to see if it is updated.

Jac, you are so right. But, what happens when they screw up, say they have been overcharging you for over a year. You discover it, they fix the problem so you don’t get over charged, but they make you ask for a refund on the money you have over paid. True story. My boss did that to a big customer of his. He said it was the right thing to fix the overcharging, but he did not see the reason in returning the money and was hoping that the customer would not notice. All the while he would go on and on about how great of a christian he was and how I needed to find god. I tell you what if he is a christian then I am a virgin.

you are right Lancek. I have been watching them get rid of the best people for years and wondering why I am still there. I am happy to now be one of the good ones they let go. Just a bit scary to not have anything lined up. I will find plenty of small jobs to do, as I don’t care if it is clean or dirty work. I won’t slaughter turkeys as someone suggested, but other than killing I am up for most things.

Where do you live. I also have a small mule. She is 46 inches tall. I use her to hike with and to move bales of hay and shavings pulling a stone boat.

I don’t know why it would make a difference, but if he came from the BLM, he may be used to cattle grates and he may see the PVC pipe as a grate. That does not explain why he will walk over it while being led, but not while being driven. I would try a replacing it with a log, or something taller and see if that changes his point of view. If it does then you know it is the pipe and can continue to work on that.

As far as round penning, my favorite is Doc Hammill. He has a lot of information on his website.
Good luck and post some pictures when you can.

I had some watermelons growing this year. They got to be about 4 inches around and my over anxious husband pulled the plants saying they would never amount to anything so why bother? Why bother, I say! Because we still have a good month of no killing frost! Give the melons a chance!

Maybe next year I will find a secret spot for my watermelons.

Good for you for holding on as long as you did and for being able to do two things at once, hold the ropes of two horses and hit the bull on the nose.

I would say it is time to make bull burgers.

how were the horses once you caught them?

Ed, I have been a vegetarian, not vegan, since I was old enough to cook my own food.

I find it hard if not impossible to discuss with a vegan why I still eat dairy products. Some have made me so upset I was tempted to go get a burger and scarf it down in front of them.

Humans are animals and some people forget that. Most animals tend to eat other animals. All we can do is care for them in life and death with respect and compassion.

If you told her you were going to work your steer she would have been upset about that too, so there is no winning.

Keep up the good work and thank your animals for their life before you kill them.
