I think the Percheron that Larry has for sale is the one without the white snip on his face. This picture was taken last July at the Shelburne Farms Draft Horse Field Days.
Jean
JeanParticipantI have some pictures of all of Larry’s horses. There is also a video on DAP under events and everything equine that shows all the Suffolks he has for sale.
His spotted drafts were for sale at the GMDHA auction, one sold, one did not. I think the picture I have is one the one that did not sell. (if it is the other one, I am sorry)
I only have pictures of his team of Percherons, one of them died last fall and as far as I know he has not found a good match for the remaining one.
Larry used his 3 year old Suffolks at the driving clinic this year and they were relaxed with all the beginners working them. He also used them at the plowing in Middlebury with his brand new plow.
Here they are!

The pictures of the percherons are on another machine, I will get them over to this one, but it will take a little while (very slow old machine).
Jean
(I am not an agent for Larry, I just happen to have a lot of horse pictures from the events that he has attended and I know that Pam only has dial up at home)
JeanParticipantThe tickets to get into HPD were 8.00 each, not 80.00 each.
The food was cheap and plenty. Not a lot of choices, but what you got I thought was good.
The events under the tents were very loud because there were too many things going on at once, so you heard too much murmer for the people eating and chatting, or the saws that were running some sign making thing.
For the outside demos they used an auction truck that did have a loud speaker system on it, and they drove around and talked about what was happening. If you wanted to hear him, you could get close enough to listen. They used the same truck for the annoucements during the breed parade.
I have lots of pictures (200 +), plus videos if anybody would like to see some, I would be happy to post them.
I would guess that the amish, menninates, and quakers made up 80% of the crowd on Friday. We did not go back on Saturday.
Jean
JeanParticipantThere was a crowd for sure. I watched the whole Doc Hammell show, but it was hard to hear him. Why dont they use wireless mics, so all sides can hear. We watched a lot of the haying and got down to the logging thing too late, nothing was happening.
I did get a team harness for my moms minis.
It was worth staying to watch the breed parade and the crazy quarterhorses pulling the stage coach.
All in all it was a great day.
Jean
JeanParticipantI will be there with my DAP T-shirt on. Finally made it to IN today. Found the field and our hotel room. Feels good to have made it. I will let you all know how it was.
Jean
JeanParticipantHi Jennifer, Looking forward to seeing more pictures of your horses and to read about how you are using them.
Jean
JeanParticipantRod, it sounds as if you have a great team there. It will be fun to find out what more they know.
JeanJeanParticipantWay to go Jen and Reno!
Kruiser spread his manure yesterday with our rotary spreader. He was unsure of the load and started off as if he was being asked to pull hundreds more pounds then he could handle. I had to stop him several times before I could get him to start off a good walk instead of a leap and bound. He was headed right at the neighbors potato and corn patch slightly out of control, but I managed him to get his attention and he started again. Once he was walking nicely he settled right into the work.
Jean
JeanParticipantCarl, Check the tires before you get going. my neighbor just mowed his field with one and after the first trip around he had lost a tire.
I would like to pick up the grass he mowed, it was about a foot tall, with seed heads. Does anybody know of any danger to feeding hay that has been chopped into maybe 4 inch pieces? I would have to ted and pick up by hand, but it might be worth it if it does not harm a horse.
Jean
JeanParticipantWe just added solar panels for electricity to the house, we already had some for hot water. They do not require babysitting so far. It is great fun to watch the electric meter go backwards.
As far as saving fuel, the only thing I am doing now is using my horse to spread the manure. We are getting rid of lawn by adding garden space.

You weren’t thinking of anyone specifically, were you??
Well…
Lets just say I had the whole community in mind.
Jean
JeanParticipantHi, I have been reading some older threads and thought this one should be brought back to the front. We are all working with out horses more now that the weather and season has changed.
Lets think about safety first.
Jean
JeanParticipantCan you get some pictures of the daft goats? I would like to see them as you and the goats advance in your training.
Jean
JeanParticipantWelcome to the forum. I would like to see pictures of the horses. I have heard that the Belgian/Percheron cross is a great one.
