I.m logging steep ground at the mo I use small snatch blocks made for 4x4s and 10mm wire rope sold as strawline for haulers.I have a 25 mtr & a 50 long lengths that can be shackled together.its a 2 man operation 1 man pulls rope sets pulley’s and hooks up logs the other man works the horses you pull logs down the real steep to where its safe to re hook I use short reins so I can hang em on the hames then stand where its safe and send them off to the landing.the blocks are the key you can pull around & over most things with a pulley in the right place and you can keep the draft low I found horse.s pull much better when all four legs are grounded.you can pull massive loads on real steep ground this way it works for me anyway hope it helps.

No Simon it was not me your son met i would have most definatly come and checked your operation out getting me to bugger off would have been the problem. One day when i get the time i would love to come visit you all.Hey Jason if you wanted to share our emails that would be great the way i type it would take me days to explain what im up to.And i would be very interested in any other discussion groups you guys have i have read everything i can find on the net to do with horse logging. The info i have got from you all has been priceless i am pretty much self taught over here except from the guidance i have had from Jason Rutledge via internet which without i may have never got this far. This kiwi horse logger man i would like to meet this chap i have quite alot of work comeing up and another horse logger around would be handy indeed.Theres alot of potential over here we are a nation built on logging and agriculture and we pride ourselves on a clean green image so the enviromental focus on farming and forestry has increased which is great news for the future of horse logging in this country.P.S Can anyone put me on to a good harness maker who will ship to down under im after a nylon team set cheers.

Over here we get a biproduct from the palm oil process called palmkearnal its a great cold feed and real cheap I was wondering if you folk get it over your neck of the woods. Its mainly used for dairy cows here but horses seem to do well on it.
