HOOK UP AND GO
BillLivewater FarmParticipantmitch all washed up and put away on to spreading manure Vt cancelled manure spreading ban today so will start with the horse spreader tomorrow will not use tractor yet too much compaction still will drag pastures in between spreading normally I would be closing my driveway to traffic cuz of mud b ut now I have dust
BillLivewater FarmParticipantMitch seems like we are all done here no freezing nights now for 5 or 6 days and none in sight according to weather report; made jist over half a crop of the lightest fancy and only 8gals of medium you get what you get with sugaring time to pull buckets and get washed up will be moving on to tuning up manure spreaders and hay ing equipment, horses in great shape and fit for pasture dragging and spreading
BillLivewater FarmParticipantdid not get one either
BillLivewater FarmParticipantthose long grab hooks were known as fidd hooks among the old loggers I worked with

BillLivewater FarmParticipantmitch we used an old style military morgan stud on my grey mares both are fillies born a week apart in may one looks to be blue roan and other should stay black they are putting on some bone now hoping for a short chunky team in another year
BillLivewater FarmParticipantcorrection It is a round ring in the drawing not the d-ring as we know it I would post the picture but I am technilogically challenged
Bill
BillLivewater FarmParticipantMitch to mix it up a little more I have a book The Harness Makers Illistrated Manual by Willam Fitz-Gerald dated 1839 printed in1875 and reprint 1977 on page140 shows labled Heavy Draft Harness
the drawing shows a round d-ring harness with side straps wide back saddle . trace chains and pole hung but with pole chains attached at a point in front of both short tug [off and near side ]of each horse not hung off collar

I am looking for a work bridle in good condition. Size: can be comfortably adjusted to 17″ over the crown to the center of the brow strap on each side. Also 17″ from ctr of brow strap to bit ring. I prefer leather for a bridle. Also, I have 2 smaller bridles.
Thanks.
MarkMark I have a nice pair of used bridles that might work for you leather with some brass spotting nose band style with rounded blinders for very reasonable sale or trade

Livewater FarmParticipantGo to http://www.farmschool.org click on contact us then directions gives directions going south down rt 91 to mass rt 2
Livewater FarmParticipantI think it is great if it goes thru too many unwanted horses out there and hungry people also puts a floor on horse prices
