Any opinions on weanning a pair of healthy fillies at 4 months have alot of work to do with the mares and have no help hitching with fillies by thier sides and would perfer to do the weaning cold turkey and keep them seperated plus clipping pastures and working in the wood lot not a good idea with babies at side

Carl I hear what you are saying I have always operated on the assumption of everything I can do and provide for myself is one less dollar I have to make to give to someone else small is beautiful operate at personal capacity and grow into markets to a point; keep the ability to work within the family unit without much outside help labor intensive yes but keep what you make not give it away on payments on fancy new equipment and hired labor I am at a point now where I am scaling back even more .I know what my cost are and where I want to go from here and what I need for the pleasures in my life

lost an entire laying flock 125 hens to mink same family both will get thru any hole bigger than 1 inch weasel and mink do not eat the birds bite neck suck blood meal move to next meal can do 12 to 30 birds in one sitting and return time after time for a warm meal tight ship only remedy if one shows up be armed and set traps finally trapped pregnent female would have been a hopeless case to have gotten more birds before it was eliminated

Brad knowing and having worked the Bob horse that you are talking about on everything from a mower to a plow perhaps he is too heavely bitted he will get after it I do know but I WORKED HIM ON A LOOSE REIGN WITH JUST A D RING SNAFFLE HE IS A HORSE THAT WILL GET IT DONE alight hand and patience and you have yourself a horse that will do anything for you and give it his all a true working horse both single and teamed I had him teamed with at least 4different mates always did his share and more
