Just keep in mind the old grainys were made of wood. The old timers never seemed to have much trouble with storage. I store most of my grain in wagons and it keeps ok. I want to build an oat bin in the barn and it will be wood. I am curious to see what you come up with for a bin.

I will be there on saturday. It is only 1 1/2 hours from home so I don’t want to miss the opportunity.

I have a McCormick Deering and it is adjustable. If I recall the narrowest it will go is about 34″ and it will go well past 40″ wide. I wanted to set it at 30 but it will not go that narrow. I have never used it so I didn’t pay real close attention.

I wonder if the great Michigan economy is catching up with the horse prices. With the sale commision and the cost of trucking It must have some affect. I thought about sending a haflinger mare but for what she is I probably would have ended up paying to get rid of her. Hopefully I will be able to make the fall sale. Did they have the spring machinery sale yet? I should send a few pieces and make some shed room.

I had some Amish friends ask me to take them to that sale but have too much farm work right now. I usually try to make it so I will be curious to see some results.

Geoff, I will see if I can get my wife to post a picture of how I made mine. I can go from directly over the axle to about 10 inches forward.

Could the tongue slap be cause from too little tongue weight? I built my forecart with and adjustable seat for different loads like a hay rake as opposed to a trailer. When I have the seat moved back for less tongue weight there is more side to side movement. Just a thought.

Geoff, there is a lot around here but when you are a “little guy” like me no one wants to take the time to haul or spread. The only way to get it done is hope someone close by is spreading some. I have started having pelletized lime mixed with my fertilizer. It has to be applied more often but it only cost around $3.00 per acre so it is not a big deal.

I used the read axle from a wagon running gear. It had cut off steel wheels with 20″ truck rims welded on.

Very nice pictures. That looks a lot like my disc except mine is missing the scrapers. I never thought of using it for that purpose but it looks like it worked very well.

To bad there aren’t more people as ambitious as J-L’s Dad and watch their money like Mink. Maybe we wouldn’t have so many problems with society today.

Geoff- So far sleeping hasn’t been too bad. There were a few night that were miserable but it could be worse.
