Thats a good idea, Mink as a door holder. Probably easy to adapt to. I have used them for fence posts myself.

Welcome to the gang. I have only been here a short while. I reside in NE Arkansas. The easterners are allowing me to post and are answering my questions. I lived on the east coast for a year in Rhode Island, thanks to the US Navy. I do hope that you feel as welcome as I.

When I got to my lumber shed, the 6×6’s were 1 dollar cheaper than the same length (12 foot) 4×6’s so I bought the 6×6. Ol Jack un loaded and dragged the lumber to the site. I am so proud of my donkey!

Thankyou Rod. Yes I was talking about the poles. I thought about the round poles, but am thinking that a 4×4 or 4×6 stock would be easier to bolt and nail to. You brought up a fact that I did not think of , that being weight on the roof. I am in Arkansas and we dont get much more that 2-4 inches at a time once or twice a year. TY very much for the reply. Am going to the lumber shed today to look and $$ . Thanks again. Jack and the goats thank you too.

If i had not been looking high and low for pictures of anything (almost) with harnes on, I wouldnt have found this site. Now I know thatdonkeys arent big draft animals, but I do use my donkey for forestry , gardening and driving, so with everyones permission I will continue to hang around here. Jack weighs about 800 lbs.

Hmmm! I really appreciate your reply, and I know you were just trying to help. Thats what we are here for right. I went to the feed store today and got a mineral block for the donkey. He and the goats went right for it. Then I took Jack out and worked him for about an hour. He didnt to the spring step but one time while out “working”. Which consisted of him walking thru the woods with me behind on a long line. so hopfully it was just something he was doing from boredom. Thanks again!!
