using these sleds is there a certain lenght log that works better? i can see a real long tree wouldnt work unless you had a very straight trail.

george i was wondering about going in empty, maybe you sit in the space next to your saw? i see carl in his videos standing on top the logs going out but never see anybody going in the woods.

we had a nice thaw for about 4 days here . the snow is down to about 10 inches so its going to be good going after we get a few cold days this week.

id say its too low , if you ran over a stone or stump you’d be caught on it for sure. i’d move it towards the top and put metal on the outside for some strength so it wouldnt pull threw the runner.

i keep mine differently as they are tied in tie stalls when inside . i like the tie stall because mine are mares and all the mess stays in one place behind them so its easy to shovel. in my mind box stalls are harder to clean and use alot more bedding . of course i could see a box stall set-up if the horses had free rein to go in and out as they pleased.mine go in at nite and are turned out all day unless we are having a bad snow storm .

nice job boys, looks like you have a sulky or something to use the horse in the summer. i think jen goes to montreal for sking behind the horses, i think they call it skijouring or something like that.

good job as stated above in france and other places you see rope lines alot . i suppose you could get a 50 foot length and cut it in half or how many feet you wanted . my leather lines are 20 feet or so long , coil up what you dont need .

jenn its not lack of concern, media attention is what made this grow. like you mention you have some lambs you raised , if you take them to the processor and have them cut and wrapped to your liking all is fine . im saying the media attention is what peta and vine thrive upon.i have beef and horses and if i slaughter one or put it down its nobodys’ business but mine. again its my thought that the media attention is what stirred this up not my lack of concern

bottom line of this oxen team at this college was that it was in the public eye. at ones private farm or homestead it wouldnt be an issue except for the farmer , teamster , or lamb raiser. if a person wants to eat them, bury them or compost them it should only be an issue to the party involved , not all the goody goodys.

i got herefords and they really raise hell with brush. i turned them into a small field overgrown with red whips and they completely killed them in short order. the grass was belly deep and they ate the leaves off all the bushes before they ate the grass. second year their isnt even a stick of red whip and all the bigger stuff is ate as far as they can reach. about all i have left is apple trees with no low branches and they arent hungry as they have access to near 30 acres of pasture.
