I would also check your lines, when i first got my team they would turn inside out and then i did the rope trick from the out side hame around the butt threw the britchen and then to the other hame. I had my team at a buddys and he told me keep that off and he was driving them and parked them and told me to pull the lines, made a new hole on each on where the cross over buckle is and now I just run them up straight pull the lines snug so they are equal and pull straight back on both and they come straight back. my one horse thought he was going to be a smart guy cause he would step out after done backing up so he was way outside and he was broke from that one day.

anyone use shoes in the winter time? I didnt know if they would really help in deep snow. I could see on the landing if there was some ice in the winter time where it could help and in summer time depending on the environment it might help out but at the same time would it cause more wear and tear on the ground not?

I have a red saw too, its a 2150 turbo, dad got it from gramp passed and it didn’t want to stay running, pulled it apart put new filter on, and fuel lines on and its been an amazing saw, last year I use that dropping and a Mac eager beaver limbing.

I’m sure this would all depend on the place I’m sure but what can a guy normally get on a logging job? say a 20 acre lot of thick heavy hard wood?

what is the going rate on a forwarder? I tried looking them up and I couldn’t really find any mf that built them.

    Thanks for the help Carl.

I ended up finding Taylor’s site and sent an e-mail last night and when I woke up this morning he sent me one back.

Thanks for the help. I know that now days horse guys get some pretty sweet set up’s, I was like “HOLY CRAP” when I saw Taylor’s horse drawn forwarder. I wondered how much they sold for because in all honesty, they are pretty simple set up as far as building in my eyes accept the grapple, don’t know how much work that would take cause I haven’t been able to look at one closely.

I’m not too far from Taylor’s, He lives in Springbrook WI according to his site, I’m by Bloomer WI, 2-3 hour drive north for me but I’m sure is jobs are all over the place.

anyone able to give me a tip of what kind of wood, I would want a pole made from? I know he had white oak on it before. but its really weird, its like 8 inches wide at the hitch point on the front of the sled then goes down to about a 2×2 thanks

well I went and got that sled, came at quite a price. when we were unloading it at my place my friend dropped the flat bed part of it and it landed on her foot. a few hours later we went in and it was broken so she was laid up. then I figured I’d hook them to it so I harnese my horses and got a going, pulled and rides just awesome and then I was turning it in the yard on some snow and next thing you know the pole broke… so there she sat like a fish out of water, I looked at the break today and it was right next to a knot so I dont know if thats what caused it or what.
