being from tn and never had my hands on a scoot ithought it being low to the ground for easy loading was one of the befits of it .also simple and cheap to build was another advantage. it appears you dont ever go to high with your load.why would you want to tech it up.ronnie tucker tn logger

i mostly work mules. it is real simple all the corn and hay they want.i feed this way year round.if they dont eat enough it is their fault. very seldom do i turn them out on grass. ronnie tucker tn logger

just keep the wire replaced when needed. it sounds like your mules are just sorta broke. they need considerable work. you said they tried to run a couple of times while tied to the truck . they need to pull that truck a long time before you go to any parades. if they are broke you can hold a lot with your voice. just bits are not the answer.nothing takes the place of wet collar pads ronnie tucker tn logger

i prefer to use rusty bits on workstock or ridingstock .stainless steel for some reason keeps them from slobbering.i always heard a dry mouth was not good.why i dont know .i only use straight bits wrapped with smooth wire. it is not hard on them if they dont need it. you can be rough if you need to. you can also use a chain under their jaw and snap your line on to it instead of the bit. ronnie tucker tn logger

yes take your time .check out everthing . if this 4 year old is and should be broke and has been performing well .then he must need a ample dose of hickory tee apply liberally then allow to soak in for maybe 20 to 30 min then go back to work . this is a age old south method that can work on horses or mules or children .sometimes we think to long and much . i realize i have old ways but i get along allright with my work ronnie tucker tn logger

your rod looks too steep it needs to be bent down quite a bit .it should be a smooth rod rebar with its ridges will allow the hay to hang up .if you are cutting hay with vetch there can always be some problems at the best you can do ronnie tucker tn logger

if you got time to feed them you should have time to unhitch and hitch them back horses are not mules so feeding is not the same of course i keep corn and hay before my mules all the time when i am logging i never feed them at dinner most of the time water is not available either when i turn them loose at night they got all night to eat the next morning i catch them and go to work again if you feed like they this will stay in good shape and be strong ronnie tucker tn logger they also have water free choice as well
