Good Work Farm is a draft-powered vegetable farm which markets primarily through our 110-member CSA. We are situated on 18 acres in the Lehigh Valley of PA where we grow 3.5 acres of bio-extensive mixed vegetables and strawberries, along with cover crops, and pasture. We are entering our sixth season running a vegetable CSA and our third season working our team of Percheron-Morgans. We are committed to growing high quality vegetables using sustainable practices to build fertile soil and resilient community. We keep a flock of rotationally-grazed layer-hens for egg production.

We are looking for two individuals to join our farm crew in the 2016 season! We are seeking candidates who have a keen interest in organic/ biodynamic vegetable production and a willingness to work with and around draft horses.

We farm within a vibrant & diverse farmer community here in the Lehigh Valley. While we do not offer a formal education-based apprenticeship/ internship, there is ample opportunity for learning both on our farm and by connecting to the farming community around us through workshops, study circles, and other peer-to-peer gatherings & educational opportunities.

Our Vegetable Assistant Grower is a full time hourly, seasonal position, mid-March through mid-November 2016 and will ideally have a minimum of two full seasons working on a sustainable production-vegetable farm or comparable experience, an interest in a farming career path, a physical aptitude, and an interest in gaining management experience in a medium-paced, supportive environment. Preference will be given to those with Draft Horse and/or Management Experience, but prior experience with Draft animals is not required. We are looking for an individual who fits well into our farming crew and who has an interest in harnessing a particular skill-set to further their career in sustainable agriculture. Specific management duties are based on experience and interest, but may include greenhouse, irrigation, pasture, or transplanting management. The Vegetable Assistant Grower will regularly work with the farm crew to participate in greenhouse seeding, transplanting, and hand-weeding, as well as harvesting, washing, and packing vegetables. Work may also include a wider diversity of farm tasks, from animal chores to CSA pick-up room management. Times and days of the week can be flexible, but will ideally be 5 days per week, including Tuesdays and Fridays and early-morning hours. No regular Sunday work. Compensation based on experience.

Our Beginning Vegetable Grower is a part-time, hourly, seasonal position running approximately May through mid-October. Ideally, candidates will have an interest and possibly some experience farming, gardening, and/or working with plants and animals, along with an interest in learning, a physical aptitude, and a strong work ethic. This is an entry-level position, and those without prior experience in production vegetables are welcome to apply. The bulk of the work will include greenhouse production, transplanting, and hand-weeding/ hand-cultivation, as well as harvesting, washing, and packing vegetables. Other jobs may also include anything from building/ construction projects to trellising tomatoes to farm organization and clean-up to CSA pick-up room management. Work may also include animal chores (feeding, mucking, etc.), horse harnessing, and pasture management/ fencing. Times/ days of the week can be flexible, but will ideally be 2-3 days per week, including early-morning hours. No Sunday work. Compensation based on experience.
