A year long sting to bust an Amish farm for supplying raw milk to happy consumers? No wonder we couldn’t find Bin Laden for 10 years! We were using our best efforts at cracking down on contraband milk! How could we be expected to also look for public enemy number one?!!

Seems a bit ott, but when you bring office boys into the job of farming you can expect some lunacy.. What im slightly confused about is the growth of sales of these yoghurts with the “good” bacteria that are supposed to be good for us… Does pasturisation not kill these bacteria that occur naturally in milk ?? If that is so, how come these bacteria survive in the yoghurts that are sold in the shop?? or are we being sold a worthless product….

    Hi John,

I imagine that the yoghurt pasteurized first and then re-inocculated with the “desired” bacteria. Kind of like the milk fat thing – take it all out and then add it back as needed.

are we being sold a worthless product….

not worthless as such but as far as the “being healthy” claim goes: yes
over here the producers of these yoghurts had to withdraw their statements/claims in the advertisements as being helpful against colds and indigestion etc.
