Flying Plow Farm Seeks Draft Horse Apprentice

Flying Plow Farm in Rising Sun, MD is now accepting applications for its Draft Horse Apprenticeship. The Apprenticeship uses study sessions along with full-immersion farming and marketing to give you the necessary skills to own and operate your own horse-powered farm. Compensation package includes stipend, housing, and farm products.

Flying Plow Farm is a 56 acre organic vegetable and livestock farm. Our main focus is growing 7 acres of organic vegetables using bio-extensive farming practices that include long-term cover cropping, compost making, timely tillage and cultivation techniques, conservative irrigation practices, and moisture management.

The farm produces year-round for its CSA, summer farmers markets, winter markets, and winter delivery programs. We also raise grassfed beef and pastured poultry & eggs, and keep draft-horses and work-hogs.
