I am looking at a few horse trailers and I am wondering about interior dimensions. Is 82 inches enough room between the chest and butt bars for full size drafts? Anything else I should consider?

    Thanks

My trailer measures 72″ between chest bar and butt chain. Enough room for blocky 1600 lb horses.

Thanks Rick, My horses are chunky 16 hand mares so they should fit well.

    Hey Jared

Whats the height on your trailer? Any one else have minimum interior height recommendations for 16-17 hand team? Shopping around for a new trailer…..preferably 16 ft aluminum Gooseneck, if anyone has any leads…..

I have loaded 17.2 horses on a 6 1/2 ft. trailer before but a 7 or 7 1/2 would be a lot better. If you load them with the harness on the hames will catch the door frame on the 6 1/2 footer. I think if I remember it’s on the way out,not on the way in….I would recommend a 7 1/2 if you can find one, then you don’t have to worry. HTH
