    I have a new work harness made for my single mule and with the heel chains in the last link the mule’s hoof just miss the evener when she walks. The harness maker is willing to replace the chains or traces with longer ones. Can I get some advice about the amount of heel clearance I should be looking for?

    The shortest setting should be just clipping the heal, then have 6-10 links to extend further.
