The Cornell Small Farms program has added a short video, “intro to farming with horses and Mules” to their collection of beginning farmer series. It is shot here on our farm and it is fun to work with a great videography. here is a link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jQDbIv0tDI&feature=youtu.be
Starting on Monday, I will be serving as the on line expert for questions on draft animal power at the National Young farmers Coalition web site for a week. While I think calling me an expert sounds a little funny, (I feel more like the guy on the commercial; when asked if his is a doctor he says “no, but I did sleep at a holiday inn express last night). I figure I will contact a few of my friends here over the weekend to make sure I can “phone a friend”.
Please check out the National Young Farmers Coalition web site, I made a link above. To take part in their forum you will need to create a log in (down at the bottom).

What a great video, thanks so much for continuing to provide opportunities and informatio to beginning farmers. Loved the footage of the haying and grassy field as I sit here looking at it snow outside.
You need some footage of the new ground drive forecart. 😛

February 19, 2014 at 9:35 pm #82526Donn HewesKeymasterI am pretty sure there is another one or two. Possibly on the economics of draft power, and equipment. Peter and i did these interviews about four years ago. Now he is just figuring out how to cut and slice the raw footage into usefully segments.
