Raising Mower bar height to clip pasture @ 6-8''

Hi Folks,

Looking to trim the nurse crop on our alfalfa and thought it might be a good job for the horses.
I’ve got a borrowed #9 and was wondering how I one would go about raising the sickle bar height to 6-8 inches to clip over the top of our August seeded alfalfa. I have a small wheel that I think would work slick on the end of the bar but would Love to hear perspectives.
