The annual Suffolk folks meeting is just a few miles from our farm this year.
Got to meet Jason Rutledge in the flesh….the high point of my year. Nice talk on logging and a little demo. Got to talk about the ‘new’ methods of felling versus my old fashioned western methods. I see the merit in the new stuff and the slightly higher value of the stumpage with the much flatter cut. I was worried about the hinge being at the same level as the felling cut but they said it was safe as long as your notch was very tall. Learn something every day.
Sure nice to meet all the Suffolk folks. Tomorrow should be a winner with all the contests.
Met John Hammond from NH as well…plan on talking with him more tomorrow. Great guy!
