Improving production with sugarbush thinning. The sugarbush is the factory where sugar and sap are produced by trees and harvested by maple producers. The webinar on October 7, 2010 by Dr. Peter Smallidge will describe what it means to thin a sugarbush and how thinning can improve the vigor and productivity of the sugarbush. Participants will learn how to assess tree characteristics that should be removed from a sugarbush through thinning activities. The results of several years of sugarbush thinning study with maple producers throughout NY will be reviewed.
