I’m interested in the history of the manufactured swinging arm stackers and overshots in the West (particularly western Montana and Idaho). I’ve read that the swinging arm stackers were not manufactured after around 1925 (at least not by most). I’m trying to get a time line figured out about when new hay stackers were introduced to the U.S. Northern Rocky Mt. West and when they became the most popular. The Beaverslide and “Mormon” Hay Derricks seem to be the first, followed by these manufactured ones…?? Or when exactly were these manufactured ones used in the area? I’ve talked to numerous people in Montana and Idaho, and nobody seems to know when/who used these ones (most just remember the homemade devices). Any information anybody has would be wonderful!! 🙂
