I picked up a horse drawn disc and a corn planter. I wonder if anyone can identify the make or model of theses two units? They seem to be complete and in working order.

I will concentrate on fixing up the disc first as that will be needed as soon as the soil dries up. Any comments, info would be appreciated.

The disc is probably more than one horse can handle so I will get Jim’s Percheron to help Oz pull it. I wonder if the discs are still availaable? Looks like some need to be replaced?

    Ed,
From what little I know about horse drawn disks. It looks like yours was ment to have a toung truck. You can unbolt the truck attachment and bolt in a tounge and it will work as is. For disks you can get them from most Tractor supply stores or even the local equipment dealers. I would remove the outer disk to see what it has for an arbor and go from there. The thing about disks is that they will really work a horse, go with the disk as is for this year and see what you get for soil action. If you feel that it is not cutting enough then I would consider new disks. I have no idea what make or model it is but it looks to be totally useable. Have fun working the garden up.

Thanks for the info Joshua, after a little searching on the web, i found a picture of one just like mine. It is a McCormick deering disc. I am going to order a rubber 12″ swivel caster tomorrow and build my own tounge truck. I think it will work fine with the discs that are on it for this year. I will be discing in some rye I planted as a cover crop last fall, so the soil is preety loose and should not be too bad.

Any ideas on the seeder? I have not found any info on that on the web.

    Ed
