daniel groverKeymasterHere’s another one based on the same general design, this one made out of bikes.
daniel groverKeymasterAh! L’Atalier Paysan (a French, Farm Hack-similar org) are working on resurrecting a Swiss European Tool Carrier called the Bucher. They’re calling their project the Neo Bucher.
Check it out here: http://forum.latelierpaysan.org/viewtopic.php?f=147&t=2915&sid=2b878c28c4a66191c8caf6320f546745

daniel groverKeymasterHave any of you read James Howard Kunstler’s World Made by Hand series? It’s a post-peak oil vision of the future set in the upper Hudson Valley. People have returned to drafts for farm and forest work entirely and horses can’t be bred and trained fast enough to keep up with the demand, even after several epidemics wipe out huge portions of the human population. In that world, even problem horses would fetch a pretty penny, not to mention Russell-trained logging teams.
Of course, the monetary system is no longer functioning so prices are set mainly in silver coin.
I recommend these books though they could definitely do with more content about driving horses 🙂
daniel groverKeymasterHi JMorrow, Just curious, what is the name of the educational farm that you are a part of?
daniel groverKeymasterSorry to hear this, Donn. He was a great mule..
daniel groverKeymasterHi there Mark,
Anyone can write a member profile about any of the DAP members. So far, we’ve had two, one of Carl Russell and one of Rich and Kate at Tender Soles Farm. We want this to be a regular part of the website, maybe every month or two. It’s a way for everyone to hear what our DAP community members are doing. Are you interested in profiling someone or being profiled yourself?
Daniel
daniel groverKeymasterHi everyone,
I’m getting in touch with Gabe this morning and will work this out soon! Thanks for the heads up..
daniel groverKeymasterWhat does specialty crops refer to in this context?
daniel groverKeymasterHi Ed,
Can you explain the problem you’re experiencing; hopefully we’ll be able to help you straighten it out!
Best,
Daniel
daniel groverKeymasterOver at the FarmHack forum, someone’s asking what kinds of tractors have ground-driven PTOs. If anyone has any information on the topic, log on there and lend a hand.
FarmHack is a community for open-source farm innovation.
daniel groverKeymasterHi there Kevin,
You might consider adding your post to the Rural Heritage list.
daniel groverKeymasterHey Eli,
I’ll make the same suggestion I made to Bekah– consider adding your post to the Rural Heritage “Good Farming Apprenticeship Network” page. It’s a great list.
daniel groverKeymasterThanks so much for sharing this, Erika! I lived and worked at a farm non-profit on the Vineyard for a couple of summers. I knew a guy there named Dicky Brown who I think was involved with draft power–does anyone know anything about him?
daniel groverKeymasterHi Bekah and Neal, Consider adding your post to the Rural Heritage “Good Farming Apprenticeship Network” page. It’s the best list I know of specifically for draft powered apprenticeship opportunities.
