    j.i,holt,

I would love to hear more about your system. We are in the process of buying a different farm, then its full steam ahead. Would like to learn as many options as possible.

    Thank you

When I start my horses I never use either, as it puts them to sleep, but at least I don’t have to worry about scoring a piston:p.

    Sorry I couldn’t help myself.

All good points above, one thing I am very adamant of, as Jeroen was stating, is my teams do not step off unless I say so. If I am unhitching and I go back to step the team away from the piece of equipment and they take a step without my command, I back them and we wait a few seconds until I say to step off.

    Billy,

I’ll try and get some snow scoop pics up. We currently farm about 60 acres, about 40 acres of hay ground and the balance is pasture and 2.5-5 acres of open pollinated corn or oats depending on the year. We currently rent the majority of our land, trying to find away to buy a little more. I can’t seem to get the other pics to download, this one is not that great, but it’s a start.

Yep, that’s the one I found, here is the link to youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOr8rjlrS38

If my little community would be a little more receptive to something like this that would be neat. Most of our share go to folks in larger towns north of us.

Can’t seem to get this to load, looked around on youtube, is this the grocery deliver or something else? Either way still cool.

What frustrates me is the USDA gets this information and it allows corporations like Cargill and ADM to manipulate the market in there favor. I think the local market should have more bearing. We farm, but we sell everything we produce directly, mostly through our CSA, so none of goes into the commodities market and this is seen as a threat to the MEGA players.

    Just my ramble,
    George

They are selling because they want to move to Arizona to be closer to there children and do not want the hassle of the acreage. At first they where wanting to stay in a one bedroom apartment on the farm in the summers, but now they are not sure they want to stay at all. The trouble with FSA, at least in my experience, is they don’t like to work outside the “norms: corn/soy and confinement” I have never looked into a bridge load, I will look into that.

I ran into that when I was looking for a hayloader to rebuild, but eventually I found two and was able to rebuild one. People are funny most did’t want to sell “because they didn’t know what is was worth” and they didn’t like my offer thinking it was worth gold…if you can get it in Neilsville or Waverly that where I would start.

    Eli,

The Creamery is running like crazy, they are currently adding a huge addition plus their little store is always busy. If you are ever this way again give me a call, I’ll buy you lunch. We are only 12 miles south of HWY 94/Baldwin or 4 miles north of Ellsworth. Where did you go go to get harnesses? My brother and folks are in Princeton and my wife’s folks are south of St. Cloud.
