might work if you made a removable bar with the towing hitch fitted to it , that could be pinned between the wheels of the taller log arch if you wanted to tow a baler or some other farm equipment ?? mabey .. good luck with it tho …. John
jacParticipantTristan dimensions would be great !!! I want to build one of these …. John
jacParticipantIm not sure but I think Jason has plans for the arch he uses on his HHF website ?? …. John
jacParticipantField agent Morton will report as soon as it gets here haha ….. but Canada ???? thats just next door !!
jacParticipantJen I didnt get one over here either… I know the electronic one is ok but you just cant beat seatin next the fire at nite with a good read :-)..
jacParticipantok guys…. slightly confused here  Can I use the 357 crank and bearings with the piston an barrel in the 359 ???
jacParticipantIts a great video this .. im sure there is something at the end of the pole next the teamster.. dont know if its some kind of chain.. at least with this one the horses dont have to actualy lift the log with forward motion and can concentrate on pure pulling…
jacParticipantTristan i take it a 357 crank has a different stroke to the 359 ?? just that 357 cranks are easier to get for some reason …
jacParticipantthere is some strong glues out there for sure… but how do you get theses shoes off.. and for me ,8 weeks and the shoes are comming off anyway for a refit…if im on tar roads a lot they are off at 6 weeks… John
jacParticipantScott he had started to do a sort of repair and screwed it up , no thread left .. this is a 2002 saw and starts real easy and has that “thump” that tells you it has plenty compression so think i will take a gamble.. i like the idea of not bending all day to brash either so the longer bar appeals haha .. John
jacParticipantThanks for the replys guys… new crankshaft it is then an an 18″ bar mabey.. John
jacParticipantthe draft horses over here are really tall.. the Clydes and Shires have been bred for the show ring.. yes they are beautifull and very impressive at 18.2 high but not so great for plowing or logging at that high.. also very poor converters of food..
jacParticipantI got given a Husky 359 the other day.. engine runs great.. but the guy has threaded the clutch end of the crankshaft… is this saw worth my while repairing ? im pretty good at twisting spanners so could do the rebuild myself.. and if i did rebuild what size bar would you recommend with it … thanks in advance .. John
jacParticipantHi.. I have used Clydesdales up till now. We use horses for all manner of farm work and a small ammount of logging , I intend to step up the amount of timber work. Europe has a bigger selection of draft horses than the UK and I wondered about your breed… John
jacParticipantThanks Brad… The drawing is meant to show the log in motion.. is it not just the pendulum motion that creates the lift on these arches ?.I just know Jason will be on this soon haha… I need to get over the pond and see these arches in action.. just I have always went for the lower hitch point and find the high hitch point alien to the way i hitch.. just me doodling around ideas.. John
