This whole conversation is fascinating. My birds are down quite abit in production, even for winter with a light on. I found a dead rooster in the coop this am. Roughed up, but nothing major. We have so many birds, its hard to assess whether we are losing birds on a regular basis, but I think we must be. The fox that normally haunts us has not been around for months. Would a mink or two be able to sneak off with a bird or two a month without my notice? Some days we have no eggs at all…in a flock of over 30 hens.
jen judkinsParticipantThanks Mark and Ethan.
I think 5 and 10 are the same (correct me if I am wrong). I was gonna do the tech corner last so those who are not interested can sign off. I was going to go over how to send emails in a way that can help sort and organize them for future searching.
Not sure what #7 is. Are we just clarifying who the new chairs are? Jen.

Jen, please confirm the time for the Sunday 18th BoD meeting and is there an agenda yet? reva
See previous message….7pm. Mark should put the agenda out.
jen judkinsParticipantI’d like to keep the meeting at 7pm, unless there is someone other than Tim who cannot attend.
Mark can you send out an agenda today, so we can add to it if necessary.
I have an item I think I need to bring up to the BOD. Its a horse abuse case in Vermont associated with Green Mountain Draft Horse association. I think we need to have a consensus on how we will handle any press about this. 5 minutes should be enough time. Thanks.
jen judkinsParticipantThanks for the photos, George….that’s awesome!
jen judkinsParticipantThe meeting is scheduled for 7pm, but Tim has requested an earlier start time, 5:30. I prefer the later time, but might be able to mke the earlier time. Feedback from the rest of the board would be helpful. J
jen judkinsParticipantA totally appropriate decision, IMHO. Picking a horse is like picking a car (or any other useful item)…you pick what works best for your situation. You see a lot of subarus in these part and for very good reason…they are good in the snow. Horses with CPL ought to live where the weather and ground stays dry 90% of the time. Good luck. Being a swede myself, I’m with Simon…

I go around puddles too. Who wants to get wet if they don’t have to.
I like your approach, Tom. I don’t have cattle, but it drives me crazy when my team tries to avoid a puddle, but will walk through a river without hesitation. I know it looks like a hole and they are just looking out for their best interests, but it always annoys me. The way you put it makes me feel less annoyed and I always look for opportunities to do that…

Didn’t Ed say he could make them?
Oh I’m sure he can. But part of the deal was he agreed to take the thing home and finish it if I got at least the rings and chains for him from Berrybrook. He’s a busy guy! I just want to help out as much as I can.
jen judkinsParticipantThanks George. That helps. How do we determine the chain length for the chain set up…just trial and error? That chain looked pretty heavy duty..1/2 inch?
jen judkinsParticipantHe is now. Thanks for the reminder.

Wonderful weekend and great turnout! A big Thank You to Brad Teeter and The Farm School for a really nice venue, yummy food and a darn good time! Reno and I are pooped….but in a good way! Thanks to all who participated…it takes a village!
jen judkinsParticipantYou will probably get more insight from more experienced teamsters, but you will need some sort of coulter for that plow to make it work well and those, in my opinion are hard to find.
