OMG, Rod, I thought you were serious….that’s hilarious! We freeze brand. With a touch of sedation and a stout wall, it’s a very easy solution.

Can I come down Saturday after giving rides all day a a tree farm and stay over to Sunday to participate with my two belgian/ morgan brothers, age 6 and 8 and very stable? I will see if I can fit my scoot too, as it may have new shoes by then.
I don’t see why not. Have you contacted Jean or Brad Teeter? Sounds like its gonna be a good crowd!
jen judkinsParticipantHere’s a photo of the double spreaders I spoke of
jen judkinsParticipantMy impression is that you can use spreaders in a number of ways and this just represent one version. The hanging heart could be substituted with a simple ring, which is how I do it. I agree…one less thing to get lines tangled in, the better. My boys always seem to be able to get caught up in somthing when I’m not paying attention.
That said I have seen teamsters use up to three sets of spreaders, two sets on the inside (I might have a photo of that somewhere) and one on the outside. Some use one set on either side of the horses and others like this with a single set on the inside. I think it just depends on your set up and what you are triing to accommplish. I use spreaders for two reasons..one is to get a more direct line to my horse’s mouths and second, to keep the lines back abit so they can’t fiddle and get the lines under the pole.
jen judkinsParticipantMeeting minutes for review in anticipation of our next meeting Sunday Nov. 13th.
jen judkinsParticipantEd, I think I need to add David and any other non BOD members you want to receive notification of messages here. This might be why you are not getting any responses. Who besides David, needs to be added? Jennifer.
jen judkinsParticipantThanks Bivol. I’ll look into doing something like that. I could create a post labeled ‘links’ that could stick to the top of some of the sub forums that seem appropriate.
jen judkinsParticipantGood looking horse, nice work. Nice cart. Never seen one with the third wheel. I assume it is there to spare the horses backs?
jen judkinsParticipantMarie, your login may just be timing out. If you get such a message, you should be redirected to sign in and the message should go. I’ll try to message you to try it out.

Yes, it is the same. 605-475-4001 code#120059. Talk later…6pm.

Second, my policy covers that landowner for accidents that may occur so that I cannot hold that owner liable for damage I incur but I am not sure it would protect the landowner from suits from an event participant if they were to get injured at the event. So, this is an issue we need to look at more closely.
-BradI agree the liability issue is something we need to discuss at the Board level….I just don’t think it should hold up any plans to support this event.
jen judkinsParticipantOK, I guess we will add it to our agenda tonight. Thanks.
jen judkinsParticipantHas the Events Committee been in contact with each other or had a conference call? I’m really concerned that the effort to promote events such as these will lose momentum over the winter. I’m in favor of a free event for members (as I believe this is a demonstration type event…correct me if I am wrong) and a fee for non-members. We can do food as Brad desires. If he wants to hire someone to cook, he should charge accordingly. A potluck could be workable too, with a donation jar for those who don’t contribute food.
The liability issue is an issue that needs more discussion at the board level. We don’t have any liability coverage for events at this point. Brad likely does have farm liability insurance and as long as he is good with that coverage, I don’t think we should hold up the event because of this. In the future, we might decide to buy a policy that covers these events, and pass on the expense to the workshop holder. BUT we have to provide a perceived valuable service by advertising and soliciting participants for these events, in order to start generating that sort of income.

Its possible its not set up right….I will fix it later tonight. Thanks.
jen judkinsParticipantAny additional items for the agenda for our meeting on Sunday? I’m hoping this will be a pretty brief call, but will get us moving, working together better going forward. Jean will join us and take minutes. Talk soon. Jennifer.
