We’ll be in touch Carl. The pieces are there for some up front investment and a chance to set up a model working forest with hybridized harvests. I hear your talk last year in Athol and that’s what I have in mind. As for subdividing before forestry planning, that involves getting family members to step up and make decisions- not always an easy feat.
Thanks,
JayLongViewFarmParticipantDo you want me to drive down with the team Sat night and help out on Sun, like I did last year? I can’t remember if I sent the registration in. KNow I filled it out and wrote a check, can’t find it, so assume I sent it in.
If you don’t need the team I might just drive down Sun without them. Let me know. Thanks.
LongViewFarmParticipantI struggle every day to teach this concept to high school students. From the very beginning I work to instill in them an understanding of the concepts of Economics, Environment, and Equity. These are the “3 Es” as I learned them at Antioch. In class we approach every contemporary environmental issue through these lenses. Only when a solution to a problem balances the needs of all three “Es” is it considered sustainable. Here’s a Venn digram:
My big question is how do we approach the apathy and ignorance seen not only in the current teenage generation, but their parents too? (and school staff of course)
LongViewFarmParticipantDo you need/ want another teamster for the event? Otherwise I may just drive down for the day without the team.
September 6, 2012 at 11:17 am in reply to: Animal Power Gathering & Draft Animal Power Network Annual Meeting #74850LongViewFarmParticipantI’ll be there with my team and +1. Looking forward to more logging with you all, and maybe mowing for the first time. See you there
LongViewFarmParticipantRod,
Could I come over and have a look on Thurs? I might be interested.
Your green wagon is working out great, by the way.
Thanks
JayLongViewFarmParticipantDo you know who makes them and how/ where to purchase them. That doesn’t look like an antique. Larger versions available with wider bars?
Pretty slick mower.LongViewFarmParticipantI’d like to go again, for the whole weekend if I’m free.
LongViewFarmParticipantGlad to hear folks are interested. I think we’d need a minimum of six to run it, which would come out to about $140 each, less if we can fill up the class. 10 is maximum. Looking at my calendar I like either of the last two weekends in November. Is this too late for folks? I’ll have a warm classroom.
LongViewFarmParticipantI finally got the last of that wood out to Ted’s today. Thank you all for the help.
LongViewFarmParticipantI know all about the Veterinarian Vetting, and have taken care of that. I actually work on occasion as a large animal cet tech collecting samples for coggins and such. I am curious where and how i and my team can get vetted for experience and skill level from MOFGA. I’d really like to go up there again, but only if I can bring the team.
LongViewFarmParticipantLast year I was told I needed to have my horses “Vetted” before I could bring them to LIF in November. I’ve been before and want to come again, with my horses. Can you tell me where and how I can get them vetted?
I was told this is a look over by a mofga individual, not vetting by a veterinarian.
thanks.LongViewFarmParticipantGreat publicity for DAPnet last night on Chronicle. It was a blast to watch and I think they got some great shots and put it together well. They showed how inclusive it is to work this way, showing everybody;s contributions. I can’t wait for it to be available online so I can watch it again. I’ll post up a link as soon as I find it.
you’re welcome for the raffle Geoff. We had a fun time doing it and I’m sure you’d have done the same.LongViewFarmParticipantOn the way home from the parade the opportunity for ice cream presented itself. I don’t like to support industrial ag, but we had to have a little fun.
LongViewFarmParticipantTHANK YOU EVERYBODY. That was an amazing day of pulling. And to think there were no real mishaps (did Jen get her shoe back?) We pulled out enough wood to heat Ted and Nancy through most of next winter and got some great publicity for DAPnet. We couldn’t have done it without you all. Thanks so much!
Anybody interested in a winter version? Down hill skid? - AuthorPosts
