PM sent to you.
Jim GarvinParticipantThat’s a great picture, Tom. And, by the way, it was nice to have met you this past weekend up in Charlestown…..we had a great time for a good cause!!
Jim GarvinParticipantEd (Highway) and I will be there late afternoon/early evening tomorrow (put Charlestown Police on notice). We’ll set up camp and be ready for the onslaught of volunteers to show up early on Saturday. We’re planning on bringing venison/pork chili, homemade energy bars, bread, veggies and dip and a whole lot of other grits!! No one will go home hungry……on the contrary, you’ll be full of great friendship and knowing that you’ve helped out less fortunate!!
Jim GarvinParticipantSorry to hear about your loss, Geoff….our thoughts and prayers are with you. Let me know if your have an inclination to do a “barn raising” sometime in the near future……I’d love to visit Idaho again!!

I hope you can make it Brad. I didn’t get to see your team in action in Athol. Certainly bring your forecart, and the trails are dying out nicely. Everything that’s cut now is easily reachable. I’ll be putting more on the ground soon.
I’m really looking forward to this event and seeing everyone again. Are you bringing a team, Jim?
Ed & I haven’t decided whether we’re bringing Balzac to team up with Ozzie yet or not. It appears that you may have enough “haulers”, so I’m considering simply bringing my saws along and be a “bucker-upper” on the finished end. Let me know your thoughts…..we’re pretty flexible.
Jim GarvinParticipantEd and I will be heading over together. Looking forward to it!!!
Jim GarvinParticipantJason;
Thanks for the link…it’s very interesting, and a very timely topic. Here is a link to another Blue Hill, Maine, resident’s FB page that is also very interesting and timely. I’m hoping that other DAP forum readers will take the time to look at it and know how much this young soldier has sacrificed. It helps to keep all things in perspective for me on a daily basis.
Jim GarvinParticipantI’m sure if they contacted their vet that he/she would agree to come to their house to euthanize the dog. I. personally, think it’s quite heartless for the neighbor to ask you to do it for them and to put the burden on you. It’s a difficult decision to make, but it’s really their responsibility to do it…not yours.
Jim GarvinParticipantI did some web searching and came up with this site….

It appears you have to supply them with some information before you can download the document. I’ve never used the site, so don’t know what you can expect for results from it. Good luck.
Jim GarvinParticipantEd;
I’ve seen your pictures (personal viewing), but this link still doesn’t work.
Jim GarvinParticipantReceived mine today…..great job on it!!
Jim GarvinParticipantMy guess is it’s a black birch. Here is an article on one…

Jim GarvinParticipantJust found this. Don’t know if they’re still available or if you’re interested….
Jim GarvinParticipantMink,
I’m planning on a bit over 16.5 pounds of feed per bird, which is based on figures provided to me by another meat bird raiser in town. Again, I don’t think in the long run that it’ll be all that profitable, but I’ll know where the meat came when I’m eating it. I have quite a bit of open field areas where I can run them around, so hopefully that will hold the final cost down.
Jim GarvinParticipantThe hardware cloth is being considered more for predator control versus the chickens getting out through it.
Thanks for the info on the fence you have. I’m sure my horse fense charger will handle the extra chicken fencing, but I’ll check with Kencove when I call them.
