Cindy, stick your hoofie up……we want to order books!!
Mike
Mike RockParticipantPatchencindy,
Count me in for a book. Where do I send the bucks? I checked British Horse Loggers and though the airfare was lower at 5.5 British pounds the book was more pricey at 30BP.Mike Rock
Any others? I might order two or three just to make up the full order.
Mike RockParticipantStephen,
I pre-ordered and anxiously await the mailman bringing it.
Merry Christmas to you and yours.Mike Rock
Mike RockParticipantHey Bill, looks like you could schedule a road trip when it’s 35 below!! Have to wait a few weeks, but…..
God bless.
Mike RockParticipantHey, that looks like our place!! 😉
Mike RockParticipantKeith,
Check out the Nordell’s, Anne and Eric. They have published numerous articles over the years in the Small Farmer’s Journal. A Google search brings up many links. They have a CD and a booklet containing reprints of all or at least most of their articles. Well worth the effort.Norm Macknair in PA has lots of used equipment at reasonable prices. There are many others as well, many serving the Amish communities. They are definitely worth looking into as well.
Good luck and success in your farming.
Mike RockParticipantI would like to talk with you as well.

What is your number?Mike RockParticipanthttp://www.thenaturalhoof.co.uk/#!abscesses/cly4
After reading your post I went Googling around and found this. Cool stuff.
Mike
Just had a Haflinger go through an abscess that came out the coronet.Mike RockParticipantWell trained and cared for. Our largest Mulefoot, Detlef is nine years old and down to 700 pounds now. He has full tusks and even when breeding is a gentleman. The sows…… don’t turn your back very often.
Our main Mangalitza, Shazam, is the same but no tusks. A gentleman. One sow got cranky and she is going to be taste tested next week.
We have around 70 Mulefoot and 30 Mangalitza hogs. We have shipped to both coasts and in between. Inquire within!!
Mike RockParticipantNice website. We have Mangalitza hogs and also a large herd of American Mulefoot if anyone needs any. We have shipped by air to both coasts and had truckers from some fifteen states.
I didn’t see the CD listed.
Mike
Mike RockParticipantStephen,
Thanks for Wengers information. I’ll call them. What I am trying to build is a bed former using these meeker discs as the compaction element. Richard Wiswall has one he uses with his tractor system and I am going for the horse drawn equivalent for 36″ wheel spacing, so a 24″ bed top or so.We need raised beds here because of water. Our gardens are just below the hillside seep lines and we sometimes have flowing springs in the beds until late May.
Thank you.
Mike
Mike RockParticipantStephen,
Do you know a source for ‘meeker harrow’ parts, not the whole gizmo like Market Farm sells.
Also smaller diameter disc blades. Wear Parts sells them down to 13″ but I’m looking for 8″ or so. Same for coulters, 8-10″.Brabant Owner, aka Tommy Flowers might have the plow parts you seek.
God bless.
Most respectfully,
MikeMike RockParticipantBrad,
Where in northern Wis. are you?Mike Rock
Argyle, WI…SW of MadisonMike RockParticipantHow cool. I have the identical head and am wondering the same thing. I was going to mount some vertical iron to make a ‘front’ rail for the stone boat, like on a forecart.

Mike RockParticipantThere is an old cabin, or was anyhow in 1972, in Bonneville, Wyoming. It’s on the way out of town up to the mines. The whole cabin is built from one cottonwood trunk section. The trunk was split like you were sawing the whole thing in one setting, nice thick 8″ or so pieces. Corner notched and all. If I remember correctly each wall was made from two pieces. When I saw it cattle were living in it. Wish I knew if it still stands. Maybe someone here from Wyoming knows.
