Carl, How old were your steers when you tried the different yokes on them? Which had they grown up with and how long did it take them to change comfortably?

    Rob,
Just read your story of beginning with Chris and Jake. They made out well, as I saw at Williamsburg.

I wanted Randalls, ideally, but somebody picked up some bred Americans at the big sale in Pa recently. The sire is Globoy; they’re black and white Gloucesters.
Everything just kind of fell into place, so I figured I should get my head examined if I let them go. Of course, I probably should get my head examined for taking them.
    they do look snappy, though.

It certainly is. I’m also in the picture with the Devons Sam and Mike. Sadly, they were a problem team(unknown to me) when we got them and a year’s worth of “rehab” didn’t make a bit of difference. We had to ship them.
Tomorrow I go to pick up some American Lineback calves.
Probably need to have my head examined. But it’s so much fun.

    Congrats to Kristan and George.
We are planning to do the same move – the steers are big enough. Tractor is nice in some situations(for now) but too noisy, smelly, etc.
The steers will be more companionable, efficient – and -the fertilise as they go.

I remeber a guy at Fryeburg. His voice was barely audible and he never touched the team – they pulled for him with great enthusiasm.

What a grreat idea – to make Rock a blanket out of his ribbons.
If he pulled at Fryeburg in the early 70’s, I probably saw him. There were some great teams and teamsters. Then there were the guys who just came and ……

Just looked at your site. Do you get a lot of demand for camel saddles?

    Howie,
How far away are you from Otego? We’re near Cooperstown and not far from the Singletarys in Jefferson.
