Ashlee sent me some pictures and a video. I will try to post them here. I looked up the phone number for the machine shop and no one answered. I could see a “street view” on google maps (it is crazy what the internet can do) and it looked like it may be a plain folks machine shop. I will try to send a letter to Levi first, as per Ashlee’s suggestions.

We used small pieces of copper pipe as a kid, you can make a hanger out of wire or a 16 penny nail.

Carl do you live in the area? It is a 4 hour drive for me. If you do live near by would you mind checking in to see if he still has milk can agitators?

My Haflinger impressed me last year, he was out in the open with a small hedgerow and a couple of white pines for shelter, I didnt feed him hay until mid january because the pasture was stockpiled. The main reason I started feeding hay was he began to strip the trees. He kept thick layer of fat right through the winter. He is on my friends market farm this winter and he has plush quarters….

Farm family covers our horses for something like $20 per year for liability.

That would be great, I have seen some diagrams of these in old extension articles but I have yet to see one. If you talk to your neighbors and they know where to buy some of these please let me know. Freshening season is fast approaching.

Cool Thanks, thats kind of what I figured. In an ideal world they would be in good enough shape and conditioned to be able to keep up moderate milk production and pull the no4 big to clip pastures in late june (sounds kinda dreamy though). I have to decide on the heifers I want then I can actually plan further.

I agree george, I have been offered a few horses since I put the word out but if I am going to spend some money I will buy what I want. I figured if these horses were a good enough deal I know of a very nice percheron stud and I would see if they both could be bred back. But that type of project isnt worth a lot of money…

Thanks for the insight, how flexible do you think she was on the price? I dont want to be cheap but at that age and for the work I need they arent worth the asking price to me.
That being said I am still interested.

    Thanks

Were you ordering fresh or frozen? The berk semen must be a lot cheaper than the Tam and Mang semen I was ordering. I have always had boars around and they are safer than the sows. I walk my boars around between pastures for breeding just with my voice and load them onto trailers without any restraints or gates. You do have to treat them with respect when they are with a sow in heat but it is no big deal. My 3 year old daughter works on the farm with me everyday and she can lead a 600lb boar, but I would never let her even close to the sows with out me between them.

How much are you asking for the team, do they come with harness?

    Thanks

Longview, let me know what you think. I am trying to put a team together for the spring but im not picky as of now, they will be used mostly to clip pastures and for fun, I just need cheap and healthy. It might even work if you want to split the mares up.
