    What’s a “logging” singletree?

    Other Skidding Systems

Horses, oxen and mules can be used to skid trees, though logging with animals is slow and not common. Operators need training and care to ensure the safety of the animals as well as the logger. Draft animal loggers have the option of drawing stems and loads on the ground or raising them with an arch, sled or forwarder. Stems or logs are often bunched on the ground by a single animal and then forwarded by a team on an arch, sled or forwarder to minimize ground disturbance and residual stand damage. Draft animal logging creates narrow skid trails and may be a feasible system for removing small volumes of high-value trees from visually sensitive areas.

Judging by the link at the bottom of “her” post, I’m guessing it’s a fake account.

Sounds all too familiar, Marshall. Luckily the wife has accepted the fact that when I say “I’ll have it done in a couple hours” it means a day. A couple days means a couple weeks, and a couple weeks could easily drag out half of a year. You are not alone 🙂

LStone, that’s where I bought my copy from, through Amazon. That was early last summer though.

Just received my Peavey Mfg catalog today, and after looking over the options I have a question. They are offered in handle lengths from 2ft to 5 1/2 ft, what length do you guys find the most effective?

    Mike,
Carl can correct me if I’m wrong, but I will express the deductions I have made as to the construction. The half inch in post 13 is just the surface of the pipe that does not come in contact with the pole, optical illusion. The tab is 1/2 inch thick to match the rod, the main pipe is 1/8″ walled and when smashed flat a 1/8″ plate is welded on top and bottom to equal 1/2″. Well that’s how I’m going to do it 😀 Just what I needed, another project:rolleyes:

Since switching to milk from the local organic dairy we consume half the amount we used to in a week. Being that it is only pasteurized it is richer in flavor and substance, so we don’t drink it like water. Even with the higher price tag we are spending less.

We have 5 turd herders. Two German Shepherd/Elkhound mixes, a black lab, a chocolate lab, and Springer Spaniel.
I shot my first woodcock over my spaniel this last fall, and missed a few grouse the few times I managed to go out. The others just guard the house and keep us warm in the winter.
Highway, I agree with your assessment on Springers getting a bad name from irresponsible breeders, but I place most of the blame on breeding for show, instead of work, and puppy mills. I’ve never bought a dog in my life, but if I did I would be sure to go see the parents work and meet the breeder. From what I’ve seen the people having one or two litters a year at home, are the ones responsible for preserving good working lines.

That is a very enlightening article, thanks for posting it Jason. It basically proves that all the “common knowledge” regarding using commercial wind farms as substitutes for traditional electricity production are actually wind industry propaganda. Based solely on assumptions. One thing in the article that is never addressed is the value of using something that is not depletable, and produces no waste, at least not when it’s producing electricity. Wind farms are definitely not the answer, but it doesn’t mean they can’t be part of the solution. Worth the read, or at least a quick skim.

Back to the OP, I would also be very interested in electrical system layouts that any of you are using, or have used.

    TBigLug,
Have you had any luck finding Ardennes contacts in the U.S.? I am also very interested in this breed. I have been checking the Clover Oaks website often, but have seen no updates. I have not tried to contact her yet, I was wondering if you had?
