CONGRATULATIONS to Tom Coughlin – the proud new owner of our Brabant team. We are so excited for Tom to get to know and work these great horses. Thanks to everyone who contacted us, and to the DAPNet community & forum!
Happy Spring, everyone (we got home from taking horses to MA and found 2″ of fresh snow!)

RebekahKeymasterHi Everyone,
We have had so many inquiries on this team – thank you all for your interest. They are sold pending vet check, we will post a photo with their new owner as soon as the deal is finalized. We’re so excited for their new owner!Carl NY – the horse on the right (from the drivers’ seat) is the mare.

P.S. I’m sorry for not posting my phone number in the post, will do next time.
RebekahKeymasterGet a job and/or volunteer with someone who has horses in your area to learn about basic horse care and management. When you have worked with one place for 6 months or so, find somewhere else to work – get experience with AT LEAST three different places because there are lots of different management styles and preferences, not to mention barn designs and systems to learn about and experience. You may only be able to be there 1-2 days a week for a few hours each time but even that amount will teach you a lot.
Take a workshop or two or three to learn to harness, drive, hitch, etc.
Go to plow matches and demonstrations and watch the teamsters. Which are most effective? Which are styles that you could learn from?
Read books: Lynn Miller, Stephen Leslie, Mark Rashid and other authors out there have good information to share about horse psychology, physiology, the art and science of working with horses.
Come to the DAPNet cultivating workshop and Annual Gathering to meet folks, watch and learn.
Good luck!

RebekahKeymasterI wrote that before I checked my inbox- thank you Robin and Jean! GREAT PHOTOS!!! If anyone else has any to share that would be great but we have covered the basics.
With gratitude,
-BekahRebekahKeymasterSorry to be such a luddite – I found one of people talking at the FH session, one of the demo area and a few of the stagecoach on the FB page – are there more somewhere? I saw lots from Tunbridge… also I need 300 dpi to print in the newsletter – what I saw is 96 so if photographers could email me copies at full resolution that would be super.
Thanks,
BekahRebekahKeymasterThanks, Daniel,
That link worked. I think that people can already do automatic/ reoccurring donations with PayPal but I’ll have to check into that. It may just be a matter of getting the idea out there. Jean, let’s talk.
-BekahRebekahKeymasterHi Daniel,
Great thought. I was not able to follow the link you gave – can you get me an address?
Thanks,
BekahRebekahKeymasterHi Joel & Analisa,
I just send confirmation info out this morning – in case you don’t get it, here is the info:If you have not yet pre-registered for the event you still have time – but not much! Click here to go to BPT site to purchase tickets online. Please do NOT send your form by USPS this week – I have so much on my plate and don’t want to miss it. BPT will be open until Wednesday morning. Thank you!
Here’s what you need
to know about logistics at the event for folks who have pre-purchased
their tickets:1) At the Gate:
A. When you arrive at the Fairgrounds, watch for signs telling
“Pre-Registered” folks where to go. On Saturday morning there will be a
separate line for cars containing those folks who have pre-registered (just one line on Friday).
B. Have someone in your car who is not pre-registered? No sweat! Since
you have *mostly* pre-registered people in your car, go to that line and
our admissions staff can help you with an additional ticket or two.
C. Your name will be on a list, so tell the ticket agent your name and
they will cross you off and give you a wristband to wear throughout the
event.3) Parking: Once you have your wristband, follow signs across the track
to the parking area. Please park thoughtfully.4) Camping: Follow signs across the infield and across the other side of
the track to the camping area. There will be someone there, they will
give you your camping pass (your name is on their list). Please put that
on your dashboard face out so it is easily visible from outside the
vehicle.5) T-shirts: Stop in at the DAPNet Info Table in the Milking Parlor to
pick up your T-shirt(yup, you’re on their list), poster, copy of Stephen
Leslie’s book and other great stuff.6) Saturday Dinner: If you bought a ticket, you’re on that list too!
We’ll check you in at the door.7) Wish your name was on a list that it isn’t on because you figured
you’d do that when you get there? Go to the DAPNet Info Table to
purchase camping, t-shirts, etc.8) If, heaven forbid, there is an issue with your name NOT being on a
list where it SHOULD be, please ask for me at the DAPNet Info Table and
they can page me. We’ll get it straightened out, I promise.RebekahKeymasterIf you are tempted to join us for the Doc Hammill Workhorse Workshop October 3-6…. don’t delay…. there are just a few spots left in this workshop. Contact Doc through his website: http://www.dochammill.com to get info or register.

There is an issue going on with the PayPal buttons, I have contacted Gabe and will let you know as soon as we have a resolution. In the meantime, you are welcome to send a check if you like. Sorry for any inconvenience!
Thanks,
BekahRebekahKeymasterHi Kevin,
I’ll check out the links and email you. There is a place for you to enter the amount that you want to pay because of our “pay what you can” membership level, which may be where you ended up, but I’ll look at it and be in touch. Thanks for speaking up!
-BekahRebekahKeymasterThanks for sharing, Stephen. I hate to admit my ignorance, but what is that machine in the first photo? Is it a rototiller? I guess I am now more painfully aware that I need to get to HPD – I had no idea that all those tasks had been horse-abled. Love?? the horse-pack sprayer – great pics, thanks
